Wedding couple at the modern architecture of the lumen house

There’s a particular kind of energy that surrounds a wedding day when everyone involved genuinely wants to be there. Not just present — but invested. Reese and Pete’s day at The Lumen House was exactly that. With a team supporting their vision, the couple was able to not only be present the whole day, but also be expressive within the spaces in between.

May 2nd had rain in the forecast. We had a plan — a well-rehearsed, fully communicated backup with the planner and the entire vendor team. That’s the thing about working with the right people: when contingencies are built in with intention, the weather becomes a non-issue. As it turned out, the skies cleared and we didn’t need it. But the peace of mind that comes from knowing your team has it covered? That translates directly into the feel of the day. Reese and Pete never allowed logistics to direct the atmosphere of their day — and it shows.

The Lumen House, Charlotte NC

The Lumen House continues to be one of the most compelling spaces in the Charlotte wedding scene. The architectural contrast between the ceremony hall and the greenhouse creates a natural flow to the day — guests move through distinct environments, each with its own atmosphere and light. The ceremony unfolded outdoors with approximately 111 guests gathered — the arch set against open sky. This is exactly what the day was always meant to look like, and the weather delivered. During cocktail hour, the greenhouse came alive — champagne in hand, guests settling in while the hall was brought to life with table-scapes and drapery adorned with a multitude of candles.

By the time doors opened for dinner, the room had been entirely reimagined. Long tables, florals from Eden Rose, and the kind of design cohesion that only happens when a planner and floral team are genuinely aligned. As the evening moved toward golden hour, the light outside was nothing short of extraordinary — the kind of reward you get when the weather holds and the timing is dialed in.

The Lumen House is a venue I’m always glad to return to. If you’re exploring Charlotte wedding venues for your own celebration, it belongs on your list.

From Charleston to Charlotte — Their Story

Reese is from Charleston, South Carolina. So when it came time to shoot their engagement session, there was really only one answer — downtown Charleston, in the streets and spaces that had both beauty and meaning. That session set the tone for everything that followed. It gave us a foundation — an understanding of how they move together, where their expressions live, what they look like when they’re just them. That kind of prior connection matters on a wedding day. You’re not meeting your photographer for the first time under the weight of every emotion the day carries. You’re picking up where you left off.

That ease was present throughout the entire day at The Lumen House.

The Vendor Team

A wedding at this level is always a collective effort, and Reese and Pete were surrounded by some of the best in Charlotte and beyond.

The Gathering Co. — led by Kaisey Wilkinson — is the kind of planning team that allows everyone else to operate at their highest level. Communication was seamless. The timeline held with precision, the rain plan was briefed and understood, and the day moved with the kind of invisible coordination that guests never notice — which is exactly the point. This is a top recommendation for couples planning a bespoke Charlotte wedding. A planner of this caliber is the single best investment you can make. If you’re starting your planning journey, start here.

For hair, Love Look Beauty delivered exactly what a wedding morning requires — calm, skilled, and results that hold from prep through the last dance. This is a team I consistently recommend.

For makeup, Caitlyn Dominic brought that same level of artistry and professionalism. Together, they are the combination I point my brides to without hesitation.

Eden Rose Floral handled the design with a botanical richness that complemented the venue beautifully. The Lumiere Co. was behind the camera capturing the video side of the day with an extremely personable approach.

Uptown Entertainment kept the energy exactly where it needed to be. From the couple behind the turntable, cryo cannons firing across the dance floor — right through to the cold sparks send-off at 10pm.
